If you haven’t seen the August issue of Hearth & Home magazine, you might want to take a gander because UDA is all over the issue! One of our homes, Mediterranean Oasis, was a finalist in their Excellence in Outdoor Room Design competition. There was a beautiful write-up AND a photo from the project was used for the main article about the contest. Wahoo!
Mediterranean Oasis was a fabulous project work on, and it really came together with the help of Manship Builders and Ten Eyck Landscape Architects. Inspired by the homeowners’ travels and careers in the hotel industry, this home is filled with resort-like amenities and is the epitome of luxury. Walking through the front door of this house, the sightline extends to the pool and continues to the stunning mountain views beyond its negative edge. Natural, rustic materials were used throughout, starting in the front of the house with an open courtyard built around a native ironwood tree. Here, a raised, limestone koi pond is centered under an arched steel trellis that frames the steps down to a sitting area and rubble-rock fireplace. Behind the home is a second outdoor living area on a travertine patio. This curved, covered space links to the indoor family room via a folding glass wall.
