Meet Lidia Quintanilla! Originally from Costa Rica, she has been part of Urban Design Associates’ Team since November 2013 as an Architectural Associate. She has a strong passion and appreciation for design and detail. This comes in handy when she is creating our 3D models and renderings. When she is not spending time with her family or exploring the great outdoors, she is studying for the Architect Registration Examination and is loving how much new information she is learning.
If you take a look at the UDA is Getting Crafty post, you will notice a strong sense of design and architecture definitely runs in the family!
What is your educational background?
Bachelor Degree in Architecture and Urbanism and a Licentiate Degree in Architecture and Urbanism from Latin University, San Jose, Costa Rica
What inspired you to go into architecture?
Since I was a little girl I was always interested in all the spaces went to and how they made me feel. Some spaces made me feel comfortable, happy, and bright, while others didn’t. I wanted to investigate, through spaces and shapes, to make people feel comfortable too.
What is one of the coolest projects you have worked on, at UDA or elsewhere?
Augh, really hard to decide. Every home has its own charm. The list is too long!
Do you have a signature style?
Also too hard to tell! I am learning and enjoying every style that comes to the office, and I always like them all.
Who is your favorite architect and why?
Frank Lloyd Wright. His respect for nature is just one example of what I love about him.
Do you have any pets?
One dog and her name is Canela
Do you have any hobbies?
Sports, hiking, biking, and running.
Do you have a favorite book and/or movie?
