Skyline Retreat
This hillside retreat seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings while maximizing panoramic views.
Elevated nearly 20 feet above street level, the home’s inverted layout places the infinity-edge pool at the front, offering a striking overlook of the city below. To the rear, bedrooms and a dining courtyard face Pinnacle Peak, framed by the rugged desert terrain.
Built into the topography, the four-level home follows the land’s contours, with two split levels. Natural boulder formations are incorporated throughout—one cluster anchors the master bathroom, while another sits within the interior courtyard as the foundation for a fire feature.
Sustainability is thoughtfully integrated. Optimized for solar efficiency, panels cover every available surface, feeding into a battery vault sunken into the mountain to maintain consistent temperature without relying on air conditioning. An advanced energy-recovery ventilating HVAC system filters incoming air, complementing whole-home water filtration that removes chlorine, VOCs, and heavy metals. Rainwater from the roof is directed into the site’s natural wash, supporting the landscape’s ecosystem. Masonry and stone walls absorb heat during the day, redistributing it to lower levels to stabilize the interior climate.
The main level features a great room, primary suite, and office, while the lower level is dedicated to children’s bedrooms. A guest suite sits on the upper floor, with each level offering expansive views—both down towards the Valley city lights and up toward the surrounding mountains.
Outside, an expansive gathering area features a pool and barbecue area. A fireplace and retractable TV sit behind metal enclosures, ensuring a calm, uncluttered atmosphere when not in use. A custom trellis spans a large area, casting shifting patterns of sunlight that create a sense of enclosure while preserving openness.
This home is an exercise in balance—between contemporary luxury and environmental responsibility.
